    • N (taking into account the degeneracies with respect to the z component of the total spin) as reported already in Ref. 14. For four and five electrons also higher-energy states for a given spin and parity quantum numbers (not discussed in the present paper) become degenerate with the ground state. We have determined the parity of these states. Namely, the four-electron ground state becomes degenerate with second 1- and 0+ states and the five-electron ground state becomes degenerate with the second 1/2-,3/2-,1/2+, and 3/2+ symmetry states as well as with the third 1/2+ state.

    • A single determinant is sufficient to describe the spin-polarized Wigner molecule formed by N electrons localizated around N space sites. See also the discussion of the electron-electron correlation given in Ref. 15.
