Am J Transplant 2007; 7:1491-1505. In this manuscript, the authors have clearly demonstrated for the first time that skeletal myoblasts are sensitive to adhesion blockade. They have demonstrated that these cells die by anoikis both in vitro and in vivo. They have also shown myoblast survival can be improved by specific inhibition of FADD and Bit-1 proapoptotic proteins or by overexpression of Bcl-2 antiapoptotic protein.

Neuromuscul Disord 2007; 17:38-46. The authors reported procedures done and results observed in a severely affected 26-year-old patient with Duchenne muscular dystrophy who received myoblast intramuscular allotransplantations by a high-density injection protocol, 18 months following the transplantation. The results show that between 27.5% and 34.5% of fibers in injected muscle expressed dystrophin. It is the first time that an adult patient with Duchenne muscular dystrophy received high-density injection of myoblasts.
