    • With the low coverage and at the substrate temperature used in our experiment, the substrate is not disrupted and the Au atoms adsorb on the surface. Au-induced reconstruction occurs only at higher temperatures and with higher Au coverage than those in our experiment. Diffusion of Au atoms into the substrate or Au-Si intermixing was also reported for much higher Au coverage, e.g, more than 1 ML
