We wish to emphasize that the assumption of undirected and unweighed networks is made here for the sake of simplicity and without loss of generality. The MSF approach, presented in this paper, is also valid under very general assumptions about the network topology [by allowing eventually the spectrum of the matrix M to be complex (Ref. 6) and even the matrix M to be nondiagonalizable (Ref. 31)].
