[Accessed 16 February 2007] This is the latest in the series of US government dietary guidelines. In this edition, the recommended daily sodium intake was set at 2.3 g/day for a 2000 calorie diet. The science base presented rests primarily on the relation of sodium to BP. The reduction from the previous 2.4 g/day recommendation was based on a change in sodium units from mg to mmol and the change in rounding that followed.
