In 2006 we interviewed representatives of BP and Statoil, the Eurasia Foundation, the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) NGO coalition in Azerbaijan, and independent academic experts. Because of the sensitivity of some of the issues we discussed, we have chosen not to identify interviewees by name.
