If we assume that the anodic shift due to the ferrocenium groups on PCH's waves is the same for both closed and opened isomers, then by comparison with the bis anisyl compound table 2, one can estimate the [PCHclosed, /PCHclosed to be only 0.1 V higher than the ferrocenium/ferrocene one. Thus, an internal electron transfer could take place, leading to a Fc-[PCHclosed, Fc+ intermediate in which the radical cation of the PCHclosed unit is partly destabilized by one ferrocenium site
