A mixture of (1R,2R)-(-)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane 1 (0.16 g, 1.37 mmol) and 4-(3-hydroformyl-4-hydroxy-5-t-butylphenyl)benzoic acid 2A (0.40 g, 1.34 mmol) in methanol (50 mL) was heated to reflux for 1 h. The resulting precipitate was filtered and washed with hot methanol (∼50 °C, 3 × 10 mL) and dried under vacuum to give a pale yellow solid 3A (0.51 g, 95%).
