It may be objected to that the Bruggeman equation cannot be applied directly to a monodisperse mixture of spherical elements, since such mixture cannot fill space entirely, even at closest packing. Bruggeman was well aware of this argument and in order to fill space with spherical elements, he used a heterodisperse set of ever smaller spheres.
