In this cubic case, we used the direction of the fiber axis, [hkl], to denote the (hkl) fiber texture, since this direction is normal to the (hkl) texture plane. For a noncubic crystal, the direction normal to the (hkl) plane is usually not [hkl] and varies with both the crystal symmetry and lattice parameters. Hence, we prefer using the texture plane (hkl) to denote the texture of interest for simplicity.
