    • We have experimentally observed that the rate constant for nitroso group transfer from MNTS to secondary amines in isooctane is several orders of magnitude smaller than that observed in the TTABr/ alcohol-based microemulsions. Moreover we have tested that addition of moderate quantities of alcohol to isooctane have a small effect on the rate constant. These results allow us to neglect the possibility of nitroso group transfer taking place in the continuous medium of the microemulsion.
