    • The surface viscosity of monolayers of 1, which are not capable of forming hydrogen bonds with PAM, was found to be negligible in the absence and in the presence of this polymer. This result implies that hydrophobic interactions between the surfactant monolayer and PAM do not contribute significantly to the increased cohesiveness found with monolayers of 2.
