Larger particle sizes were obtained by reducing the amount of sodium borohydride to 85% of the amount used previously. Thermogravimetric analysis confirmed that, within the experimental error, differences in the grafting density of both samples were negligible. The development of synthetic methods that facilitate concurrent control of both particle size and grafting density would be highly desirable.
