In January 2002, she carried out participant observation with members of the Comité Fronterizo de Obreras in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, and made ten visits to workers' homes (or a neutral locale) in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, facilitated by Derechos Obreres y Democracia Sindical (DODS), a grassroots training organization.
