On displaced persons see UNHCR, Update on Conditions for Return to Bosnia and Herzegovina (Sarajevo: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees January 2005). The commonly cited number of 200,000 war deaths was produced by the UN Commission of Experts at the end of the war. Other sources have used estimates as low as 25,000 and as high as 329,000. Obvious problems with reliable death records and different techniques for estimating "war-related deaths" have combined with politically motivated agendas to increase uncertainty over this figure.
