Willemze R, Jaffe ES, Burg G, et al. WHO-EORTC classification for cutaneous lymphomas. Blood 2005; 105:3768-3785. This review presents the new WHO-EORTC classification for cutaneous lymphomas and describes the clinicopathologic, immunophenotypic, and genetic features and preferred treatments of the different types of cutaneous lymphomas. The clinical significance of this classification is illustrated by survival data on 1905 patients derived from Dutch and Austrian cutaneous lymphoma registries.

FISH analysis of MALT lymphoma-specific translocations and aneuploidy in primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma
-
Schreuder MI, Hoefnagel JJ, Jansen PM, et al. FISH analysis of MALT lymphoma-specific translocations and aneuploidy in primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma. J Pathol 2005; 205:302-310. In this study, the frequency of genetic alterations described in MALT lymphomas, including four translocations and numerical aberrations in chromosomes 3, 7, 12, and 18, was investigated in 12 PCMZLs. In these PCMZLs only t(14;18)(q32;q21) (three cases) and trisomies of chromosomes 3 (one case) and 18 (two cases) were detected.

Array-based CGHanalysis reveals recurrent chromosomal alterations and prognostic parameters in primary cutaneous large B-cell lymphoma
-
Dijkman R, Tensen CP, Jordanova ES, et al. Array-based CGHanalysis reveals recurrent chromosomal alterations and prognostic parameters in primary cutaneous large B-cell lymphoma. J Clin Oncol 2006; 24:296-305. Using array-based CGH and FISH analysis, the authors demonstrate prominent differences in chromosomal alterations between PCFCL and PCLBCL, leg type. It is suggested that inactivation of the CDKN2A gene either by deletion or by promoter hypermethylation is an important parameter in PCLBCL (leg type).

Prognostic factors in primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma: The Italian Study Group for Cutaneous Lymphomas
-
Zinzani PL, Quaglino P, Pimpinelli N, et al. Prognostic factors in primary cutaneous B-cell lymphoma: the Italian Study Group for Cutaneous Lymphomas. J Clin Oncol 2006; 24:1376-1382. Prognostic factors were studied in 467 patients with CBCL from 11 Italian centers. Cases were reclassified according to the WHO-EORTC classification on the basis of pathology reports. Multivariate analysis revealed that categorization according to the WHO-EORTC classification was the only independent parameter for overall survival.
