Most studies on bone size development are limited by their cross-sectional design. This longitudinal pQCT-based analysis provides a detailed view of geometric changes in the tibia and radius during female puberty. Importantly, the follow-up time was sufficient to align results on menarche, thus achieving greater sensitivity than studies that relate results to age or Tanner stage.
