Amnionless function is required for cubilin brush-border expression and intrinsic factor-cobalamin (vitamin B12) absorption in vivo

He QC, Madsen M, Kilkenney A, et al. Amnionless function is required for cubilin brush-border expression and intrinsic factor-cobalamin (vitamin B12) absorption in vivo. Blood 2005; 106:1447-1453. This study demonstrates that a deletion in the amnionlesss gene accounts for Imerslund-Gräsbeck disease in dogs. This is the final elucidation of the genetic defect in the animal model, which has so far been the most informative animal model of the disease.
