    • Transcriptional adaptation of Mycobacterium tuberculosis within macrophages: insights into the phagosomal environment
    • To obtain information on the stresses bacteria undergo while in the macrophage, the transcriptional responses of M. tuberculosis in macrophages from wild type and nitric oxide-deficient mice before and after immunologic activation were collected. Results show the Mycobacterial phagosomal environment to be nitrosative, oxidative, hypoxic, carbohydrate-poor and able to disturb the cell envelope.
