    • This is true so long as the silver wires are thick enough to retain the optical properites of bulk silver. The refractive index of silver films thinner than d ≈ 15 nm have been shown to diverge from their bulk values. While a similar effect might occur for wires of this width, the smallest wires considered in this paper are 40-nm thick. See I. An and K. Oh, J. Kor. Opt. Soc. 29, 370 (1996); U. Kreibig and M.
