15. Purification by these methods gave compounds of sufficient purity for assays. However, the hygroscopic nature of many of the compounds prevented determination of purity by elemental analysis in most cases. Notably, the in vitro antifungal activity of compound 6 (for which elemental analysis could be obtained) was assayed both before and after purification by column chromatography, and identical MIC values were obtained in each case.
