J Urol 2005; 173(Suppl 4):346 [Abstract 1277]. Analyses of the histological findings of acute and chronic inflammation in baseline biopsies done in selected patients in the MTOPS study of BPH treatment indicate that inflammation is highly predictive of progression outcomes of acute urinary retention and BPH-related surgery.
