51. A generalization of the CPA for the electron-boson interaction term has been proposed in ref. [A. C. M. Green, Phys. Rev. B PRBMDO 0163-1829 10.1103/PhysRevB.63.205110 63, 205110 (2001), see also Ref.], which in principle gives access to the narrow polaronic subbands that arise close to the Fermi level. However, such low energy excitations turn out to be totally incoherent, which constitutes an important drawback of the theory. For this reason, we restrict here to the analysis of the high energy excitations within the simplified framework of Eq. 3.
