PHRVAO 0031-899X 10.1103/PhysRev.98.969 98, 969 (1955)], and its mass density is ρ=8.94gcm-3. To approximate a cubic material as an isotropic elastic continuum we define effective elastic constants C11 c11-2Δ and C44 c44+Δ, where Δ(c11-c12-2c44)5, and we let vl=(C11 ρ)12 and vt=(C44 ρ)12. This leads to vl=4.97×105cms-1.
