In a separate experiment, the protein-nanoparticle assemblies obtained at 23 °C were annealed to a temperature of ∼80 °C, over a 18 h period. Thereafter, SAXS performed on the annealed samples did not show any change in the interparticle spacings, displaying the robust nature of assembly and the resistance of cross-linked protein against denaturation by heat.
