    • The terms "Hispanic" and "Latino/a" are used interchangeably throughout this study to describe a U.S. resident who self-identifies with a heritage rooted in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Central America, or South America. Similarly, the terms " Caucasian" and "Anglo" also are used interchangeably. Although we use such terms, we agree with cultural theorists' position that "Latinos do not comprise even a relatively homogenous ethnicity."
