9. Note that both samples have been prepared in the same deposition run on the same single crystal by simply evaporating an extra nominal half Co-ML on only half of the crystal.

11. The phase of the oscillations was determined with STM measurements on Co wedges before the coverage with Mn and the MOKE experiments, showing that the nominal and real thicknesses can differ up to ±3%, explaining the apparent discrepancy between Figs. 1 and 3.
