    • To ensure accurate alignment of intron positions, we could only compare orthologous genes showing at least a moderate degree of coding sequence conservation. Less-conserved gene sets may show a lower degree of conservation in intron placement, but there is no a priori reason to expect that this should affect the ratio of intron conservation between species.
