    • note
    • We have already found that 1 exhibits a lyotropic lamellar phase in the bulk aqueous solution. In this liquid-crystal phase, 1 adopts an extended conformation. X-ray diffraction measurement for the aqueous solution of 1 containing ca. 30 wt% of water showed that the layer spacing of the lamellar phase was 4.86 nm, which corresponds to the thickness of molecular layers consisting of 1 with an extended conformation and water.
