Meyerowitz Real-time lineage analysis reveals oriented cell divisions associated with morphogenesis at the shoot apex of Arabidopsis thaliana Development 131 2004 4225 4237 This article presents an in vivo study of cell dynamics within the inflorescence meristem of Arabidopsis. The authors defined not only cell cycle parameters but also the cell lineages, which allowed them to trace the ancestors of the primordium cells to small groups of progenitor cells that lie in a ring around the meristem centre.

Traas In vivo analysis of cell division, cell growth, and differentiation at the shoot apical meristem in Arabidopsis Plant Cell 16 2004 74 87 The authors used in vivo analysis and confocal microscopy to analyse cell division and cell differentiation at the meristem. Drug studies reveal a link between growth and DNA synthesis. Both processes can be uncoupled from differentiation.
