    • This is a manifestation of the principle of non perfect synchronization (PNS) [58]. With respect to the factors relevant to the present study, the PNS states that the intrinsic rate constant decreases if (a) the development of a product destabilizing factor (e.g., a steric effect) runs ahead of bond changes at the transition state, (b) a product stabilizing factor (e.g., resonance) lags behind bond changes, or (c) the loss of a reactant stabilizing factor is ahead of bond changes (π-donor effect).
