    • 11B nucleus makes it the optimal ion for detection of cation-anion pairs in the catalyst bead. A sample of catalyst was mounted in a resin matrix and then microtomed to give a flat surface for the SIMS analysis. Figure 3 shows two beads, one of which displays a larger cross section than the other because it was machined to a different depth.
