To the solution thus obtained was added dropwise 5 mL of 30% aqueous ammonia. After stirring for 2 h at 0-5°C, the solvent was evaporated in vacuo at room temperature. The residue was treated according to the same procedure as that of preparation of the HCl-treated PPyne previously mentioned. The HCl-free PPyne was obtained as a deep yellow powder.
