Infant growth and health outcomes associated with 3 compared with 6 mo of exclusive breast-feeding
-
Kramer MS, et al.: Infant growth and health outcomes associated with 3 compared with 6 mo of exclusive breast-feeding. Am J Clin Nutr 2003, 78:291-295. This influential paper compares the health and nutritional outcomes of two groups of Belarussian infants: those breast-fed for at least 3 months and those who received only breast milk for at least 6 months. Growth was no different, and gastrointestinal infections were less frequent in infants who were breast-fed for 6 months.
