-
The survey was conducted during the first week of March 2005, It consisted of telephone interviews of a sample of 1,000 adult men and women (in approximately equal numbers), all 18 years of age or over. The interviewing methodology used the procedure known as CATI - computer assisted telephone interviewing. The sample was a random-digit dialing (RDD) probability sample of all telephone households in the continental United States. All households selected were subject to an original and at least four follow-up attempts to complete an interview.

Suddenly, Americans trust uncle Sam
-
3 November
-
For similar conclusions, see Alexander Stille, "Suddenly, Americans Trust Uncle Sam," New York Times, 3 November 2001, p. A10. We noted, too, that the results could have been affected by the war in Iraq and by anticipated federal tax cuts, all occurring at about that same time.

Issues of federalism in response to terrorism

Special issue
-
A survey of federalism scholars that we conducted in 1991 found that most scholars viewed the post-9/11 spike in trust and confidence in the federal government as likely to he short lived. See John Kincaid and Richard L. Cole, "Issues of Federalism in Response to Terrorism," Special issue, Public Administration Review 62 (2002): 190.
