    • The intramolecular insertion of diazo ketones into aromatic C-H bonds has been extensively reported (see reference [1]). This process has been described as an electrophilic addition of the metallocarbene followed by 1,2-hydride migration: A. Padwa, D. J. Austin, A. T. Price, M. A. Semones, M. P. Doyle, M. N. Protopopova, W. R. Winchester, A. Tarn, J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1993, 115, 8669. The observed ratios for the products, particularly the meta/para ratios (lower than 2:1), shows a preference for the para position, a fact that would be in accord with such proposal.
