    • We refer here to the pi; orbital of the alkene/alkyne which lies in the plane formed by the TM and the two carbon atoms. Alkynes have a second π orbital that will be referred as out-of-plane. Notice as well that in the complex the in-plane π orbital of the free ligand has σ symmetry.
