Nice regional survey of childhood diarrhea that stresses the importance of adequate tests. Proportion of virus positive stools was almost 10-fold higher when polymerase chain reaction was used as a diagnostic test instead of electron microscopy.

A clear reminder that the seasonality of outbreaks of norovirus does not necessarily reflect what is happening at the community level.

First detailed study of the costs of nosocomial gastroenteritis in 2002-2003, the majority of which was caused by noroviruses. Makes one wonder why routine surveillance programs of nosocomial disease does not include these viruses.

Important review for anyone interested in the state of the art of rotavirus vaccine development. The conclusion was that there are insufficient data on efficacy of the vaccines in regions where they are needed most. What is missing is an evaluation of the published efficacy data for prevention of disease due to different serotypes of rotavirus, another important question that needs to be addressed.

Understanding kinetics of norovirus infection is crucial for targeted prevention. This study shows widespread asymptomatic shedding.
