The XPS F 1s spectrum of the HF-treated sample indicated the presence of two fluorine-containing species (see Supporting Information). On the basis of their binding energies, the major component was assigned to sodium fluorosilicate, while the minor component was assigned to sodium fluoride: V. I. Nefedov, Y. V. Salyn, G. note
-
When SWNTs are suspended in water by a surfactant, they can be suspended both as individual tubes or as bundles, surrounded by a surfactant micelle. Although the present method suspends a large number of SWNTs as individuals, no special effort was made to separate individual SWNTs from any suspended bundles. Consequently, the results described herein include both silica-coated individual tubes and silica-coated bundles.
