13. Several pentaporphyrins arranged osmium(II) or ruthenium(II) porphyrins around the central tetrapyridylporphyrin by coordination bonds have been reported by us (N. Kariya, T. Imamura, and Y. Sasaki, Inorg. Chem., 36, 833 (1997))
14. and Alessio et al. (E. Alessio, M. Macchi, S. Heath, and L. G. Marzilli, Chem. Commun., 1996, 1411). However, those Os(II)-N(pyridyl) or Ru(II)-N(pyridyl) bonds are not so robust for substitution in solution, and easily broken by the addition of excess pyridine.
