    • This approach is adequate when the signals entering the sample arm of the Nicolet interferometer are much larger than those from the reference arm. At sample temperatures of 250-350 K, this approach is no longer adequate due to interferometer phase errors and machine algorithm effects. In these situations analysis of both the amplitude and the phase of the recorded interferograms is required. See, for example, P. C. Dufour, N. L. Rowell, and A. G. Steele, Appl.
