    • The Synchrotron radiation emitted from electrons under-going betatron motion has been studied numerically and theoretically [5,6], and observed at the Stanford linear accelerator where 5 ps x-ray pulses were produced using a 28.5 GeV energy electron bunch that was sent into a 1.4 m long plasma. [See S. Wang et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 135004-1 (2002), and C. Joshi et al., Phys. Plasmas 9, 1845 (2002)].
