An average age onset of 17.2 years was established, with gradual presentation of psychopathology, but families were not aware of how to seek help, and some symptoms had been unrecognized, resulting in treatment delay.

Children of teenage mothers (18 years or under) had higher relative risks for hospital admission for unintentional and violent injuries, as well as deaths following violent injuries, as compared with children of older mothers. The risks remained after adjusting for socioeconomic deprivation, and parental substance abuse and psychiatric illness.
