The inclusion model presupposes the side groups to be accommodated within the host lattice in a concentration equal to the concentration of these groups along the polymer chain. Therefore, a decrease of the melting point at higher side group concentrations is caused by a reduction in entropy resulting from a separation of the system into two phases with high and zero substituent concentration.
