    • 4. The reaction was quenched by addition of 1 N HCl solution and extraction with EtOAc (3 × 15 mL). The combined dried organic extracts were concentrated and the crude product purified by silica-gel column chromatography (pentane/EtOAc mixtures) affording the corresponding 1,3-amino alcohols. The ees of the amino alcohols were determined by Chiral-phase HPLC analyses using a Chiralpak AD column
