Since the melt density of myoglobin was determined to be 1.43 from the present data, the values in Figure 4 of the above paper should be multiplied by 1.43/0.80, giving a maximum value of 0.20 at the surface rather than 0.11. This value is still far less than 0.55 ± 0.05 as observed in the present work and is also less than the value of 0.44 expected for full coverage in the native state.
