note
-
The structure of the SISB shows that representativeness may be biased in two main ways: firstly, when there is a lack of re-balancing measures, and secondly, as time goes by. The first affects large companies and it consists of the intra-representation of companies with high growth. This arises due to the absence of a mechanism to incorporate, either at the beginning of the process or later on, small companies that have undergone a high growth and now have over 200 workers. The second affects small companies and consists of a possible overrepresentation or infra-representation of newly established companies. This is due to the lack of statistical accuracy accumulating from the consecutive incorporation of newly established companies.

-
García and Briz [53] found that economic considerations ('lack/scarcity of appropriate sources of finance' and 'innovation expenditure too high') emerged as the main obstacles to innovation in the Spanish F&B1 rather than factors related to the firm's innovation, which makes industrial policies necessary.
