Using the UNOS database, the authors evaluate MELD as a predictor of pre- and post-transplant survival in UNOS status 1 patients and find that for fulminant hepatic failure (not due to acetaminophen), MELD appears to be predictive of outcome and may be useful in the future in prioritizing these patients.
