Note that at large U the ferromagnetic solution sets in. In Ref. 16 it was shown that the energy of two holes in a ferromagnetic (Formula presented) cluster could be fitted by (Formula presented). Comparing the present numerical results with this energy gives a transition to the ferromagnetic solution approximately at (Formula presented), for the cluster sizes investigated here.
