Ovarian wedge resection by minilaparotomy in infertile patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome: A new technique
-
Yildirim M, Noyan V, Tiras MB, et al. Ovarian wedge resection by minilaparotomy in infertile patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome: a new technique. Eur J Obstet Gynecol 2003; 107:85-87. Despite abandonment of ovarian wedge resection by others, the authors advocated this historical procedure. It is certainly not a new technique. Besides a mini-laparotomy approach, the ovarian opening was closed with chromic cat-gut. Adhesions would certainly form.

Repeated laparoscopic ovarian diathermy is effective in women with anovulatory infertility due to polycystic ovary syndrome
-
Amer SA, Li TC, Cooke ID. Repeated laparoscopic ovarian diathermy is effective in women with anovulatory infertility due to polycystic ovary syndrome. Fertil Steril 2003; 79:1211-1215. Although the sample number is small, the authors believe that repeat LOD is effective in those who previously responded to surgery. The authors did not address the possibility of decreased ovarian reserve or ovarian atrophy.
